Windows Server 2016 is the seventh release of the Windows Serverserveroperating program created by Microsoft as a part of their Windows NT family of operating systems. It was developed using Windows 10 and will successor to Windows Server 2012 R2. The first old Preview edition (Technical Preview) launched on October 1st, 2014. It was the initial technical preview for System Center. Windows Server 2016 was published for sale on October 12, 2016, announced at Microsoft's Ignite conference. There are two successors: Windows Server 2019 and the Windows Server Semi-Annual Channel, which is a complete omission of components and an interface for users.
Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Amazing Features:
- Active Directory Federation Services: it is possible to set up AD Federation Services to allow authentication of users stored in directories that are not AD, such as X.500 certified Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directories well as SQL databases.
- Windows Defender: Windows Server Antimalware is installed and activated by default without GUI or GUI, installed as a Windows attribute.
- Remote Desktop Services support to the OpenGL version 4.4 as well as OpenCL 1.1 Performance, stability and stability improvements; MultiPoint Services function (see Windows MultiPoint Server)
- Storage Services: Central storage QoS Policies and Storage Replicas (storage-agnostic block-level, volume-based, and asynchronous replications are using SMB3 between servers to aid in catastrophe recovery). Storage Replica reproduces blocks rather than documents. It's probably not multi-master, one-to-many instead of transitive. Snapshots may be replicated by it, but the direction of replication could be changed.
- Failover Clustering: Cluster operating system rolling update, Storage Replicas
- Web Application Proxy, Preauthentication to the publishing of programs on HTTP Basic wildcard domain publication of software Redirection of HTTP to HTTPS Propagation of the customer's IP address into backend software
- IIS 10: Supports HTTP/2
- Windows PowerShell 5.1
- Windows Server Containers
Nano Server
Microsoft has announced a new installment option, Nano Server, which delivers an upgrade which is an upgraded version of Windows Server. It does not include the graphics user interface, WoW64 (support for 32-bit applications ), and Windows Installer. It does not encourage console logins, whether independently or via a Remote Desktop connection. Management is conducted via Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), Windows PowerShell, and Remote Server Management Tools (a collection of command-line and GUI-based web-based applications ). In the latest version of Technical Preview 5, Microsoft has managed the Nano server locally. It is based on Microsoft engineering expert Jeffrey Snover; Nano Server has 92 percent less security advisory VHD in size and fewer restarts than Windows Server.
Nano Server is currently available to Microsoft Software Assurance clients and cloud computing platforms online like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
Starting in Windows Server variant 1709's newest feature version, Nano Server may be placed in the container server.
Hyper-V
- Upgrade of the Hyper-V group rolling In contrast to updating clusters from Windows 2008 R2 into 2012 extent, Windows Server 2016 cluster nodes can be added to the Hyper-V Cluster that has nodes operating Windows Server 2012 R2. The cluster is still operating with the Windows Server 2012 R2 specific quantity. The group's functional level was upgraded, and up to the end of each month, all nodes within the group were upgraded.
- Quality of Service for Storage (QoS) to track the end-to-end storage capabilities and develop policies using Hyper-V and Scale-Out File Servers
- New, more efficient binary format for setting up virtual machines (.VMCX expansion to provide information about the setup of a virtual machine along with the . VMRS expansion for information on runtime state )
- Generation checkpoints
- Hyper-V Supervisor: Optional credentials assistance, direction at the bottom, and the WS-Management protocol
- Integration services designed for Windows guests distributed via Windows Update.
- Sexy add-on and elimination of system adapters (for the creation of two virtual machines) and memory (for Generation 1 and Generation two virtual machines)
- Linux protected boot
- Connected Standby compatible
- The Storage Resiliency characteristic of HyperV is designed to detect the possibility of losing connectivity to storage in VM. Virtual machines will be shut down before connectivity can be restored.
- RDMA harmonious Virtual Change
Networking characteristics
- DHCP is a function that was deprecated in Windows Server 2012 R2. Network Access Security was deprecated in Windows Server 2012 R2; in Windows Server 2016, the DHCP function no longer supports NAP.
- DNS:
- DNS Client: Service Bindingenhanced service for computers that have multiple network interfaces
- DNS Server DNS Policies: New DDS form for records (TLSA SPF, TLSA, and other documents that are anonymous ) Fresh PowerShell cmdlets, and parameter
- Windows Server Gateway currently supports Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) tunnels
- Manage IP Addresses (IPAM) IP address management (IPAM): Support for /31and /32 and // 128 subnets as well as the discovery of file-based joint domain DNS servers; new DNS functions; better Integration with DNS, DHCP, and IP Address (DDI) Management
- Network Controller is a brand-new server function that lets you configure, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot physical and digital network solutions and devices from the datacentre.
- Hyper-V Network virtualization: Programmable HyperV change (an entirely new element of Microsoft's software-defined media option ) VXLAN Encapsulation Service; Microsoft Software Load Balancer interoperability; more IEEE Ethernet standard compliance.
